How do you turn every urban dweller's itch to escape everything and everyone into something constructive? Well, ask Shivangini. The desire to escape inspired her to start 'The Summer House', a clothing label founded with a focus on being inclusive, fair and responsible.

Shivangini worked in advertising for eight years before being lured by the temptations of clothes and wares. And are we glad she gave in...

1. Describe your journey in one word.

Shivangini: Interesting

2. What is the boldest thing you have ever done?

Shivangini: Take a 10-month old baby on trips to remote parts of India to meet craftsmen and understand crafts and techniques.

3. How many women do you employ?

Shivangini: Three (basically our entire non-production team. Plus there is Rekha, my business partner, and me.)

4. Which is the one quote you live by?

Shivangini: Good manners, kindness and friends will take you where money won’t.

5. You’re a new addition to a crayon box. What color would you be and why?

Shivangini: Ivory

The Summer House is named after Shivangini's family house, which she visited as a child on holidays. The mood board for her collections is never without an item from this house.
