Matcha Green Tea, a Beginners Guide

Matcha Green Tea, a Beginners Guide

17 Jun 18  |  By Tea Trunk

In Japanese “cha” means tea, and “ma” means powder, thus the word matcha which means powdered Green Tea. Matcha is made from tea leaves that are protected from shade to avoid direct sunlight. Production usually starts weeks before harvest and may last up to 20 days. Only the finest tea buds are hand-picked. After harvesting, the leaves are laid out flat to dry, post which they are de-veined, de-stemmed, and stone-ground to the fine, bright green, fine powder, which is our Matcha.

When it comes to choosing a tea full of health benefits, Green Teas come to our mind first. Green Teas have played a very important role when it comes to choosing a Tea with maximum health benefits. With a variety of exclusive Green Teas being available with us here at Tea Trunk, we have added another member to our family which not only boosts your immune system and increases concentration but also relieves anxiety.

Matcha is nothing less than magic in the cup. Each cup of Matcha gives you 10 times more antioxidants than a regular cup of tea. It lowers your stress level and increases metabolism which in turn helps in weight loss. Treasured for its immense health benefits, Matcha is sure to be your next favourite on the list.

How do I choose my Perfect Cup of Matcha?

Most of the time we wonder how to buy the best quality of Matcha Green Tea. Nowadays, there are so many varieties available in the market that are prepared by using artificial colours and flavours and often we get fooled by this.

While choosing your perfect Matcha, ensure that the Tea is made using 100% natural ingredients, no artificial flavour or fragrance and no added colour. If your Matcha has a natural rich green colour, you have the right Matcha!

How do I blend my perfect cup of Matcha?

Step One: Sift 1-2 tsp matcha into a cup using a small sifter

Step Two: Add 2ml hot water. For best results use water just under a boil.

Step Three: Whisk vigorously in a zigzag motion until the tea is frothy.

Step Four: Enjoy your matcha tea straight from the bowl.

I’m sure we gave you enough reasons to switch to Matcha. Gear up for matcha madness. Do let us know how you liked your first cup of Tea Trunk Matcha and tag us - #myfirstmatcha.  We've got some great matcha blends with a lot more to come!
